Hungry App
Hungry App is a decentralized food ordering service that reduces average takeout fees by 20% and double drivers pay for food delivery.
Project
Hungry App replaces traditional food-ordering apps with open-source apps and decentralized finance. By eliminating intermediaries, it reduces the price of an average pickup order by 15-30% and doubles drivers' pay.
Challenge
The project is a huge ecosystem of multiple mobile apps, web apps, and admin panels. Additionally, many pieces of the infastructure run on smart contracts and decentralized backend. Everything blockchain related is always a challenge, as we have to carefully think about the tokenomics and security. Combined with 6 different web and mobile apps, it created a true challenge for our team.
Solution
We used React Native to build food ordering apps and another mobile app for delivery drivers. React and Angular have been used to build a food ordering portal, restaurant admin panel, and customer support portal. All of the apps use common API build with .NET Core and hosted on Azure. We also built the identity server to handle authentication and authorization. But the most challenging part was decentralized finance part. We used the Cardano chain to create Plutus Smart Contracts and distribute token rewards between restaurants and driver.
Results
With a help of Cardano blockchain and its decentralized ecosystem, we were able to get rid of the expensive intermediaries in food ordering process. The project is still in its MVP stage and only supports food takeout. But an average food takeout order is significantly cheaper than its analogs on the other platforms. No annoying and hidden fees anymore!
